PAUL’S LAST WORDS
The Upward Look --II
Tim. 4:6-18
In these four messages we have seen the last words of Paul, the forward
look,vs.1-4; the inward look, II Tim. 4:5a; the outward look, II Tim. 4:5b; and
last of all the Upward look, II Tim. 4:6-18. With his eyes on heaven he reminds
Timothy of:
- THE TESTIMONY OF THE PRESENT – vs. 6 – Heb. 10:22-25
- Paul knew that his time was short—II Pet. 1:13-14
- Paul never dreaded leaving this world behind—Phil. 1:23
- Paul always made sure is heart was in heaven even when his work
was still in this world—vs.18
- the end of our pilgrimage is heaven—Heb. 11:13-16
- when our will matches the Lord’s our way will not matter—Acts 21:10-14
- THE REALITY ABOUT THE PAST – vs. 7 – Eccl. 3:14-17
- our past effects our present—I Cor. 15:9-10
- the foundation for our relationship as a servant is in accomplished
work—Eph. 6:5-8
- fighting the fight of faith—I Tim. 6:12-14,
- finishing the course—Phil. 3:10-15
- keeping the faith—Heb. 10:22-23; II Pet. 3:11-15
- THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE FUTURE –vs. 8 – Heb. 6:10-12
- there is a home in heaven awaiting me—II Cor. 5:1
- my service to God here has earned me a reward in heaven—Rev. 22:12
- the greatest expectation of heaven will be the Lord Jesus—Jn. 14:1-3
