"What Does the Resurrection Prove?"

Text: Acts 1:1-3

Introduction: The Resurrection is an integral part of the Gospel, I Cor. 15: 3-4. It is a truth that is an essential part of our faith, I Cor. 15:17-19. Too many Christians fail to see the importance of the Resurrection of Christ.

THE RESURRECTION IS THE PROOF OF ALL CHRISTIANITY

  1. IT IS PROOF OF HIS DEATH
  1. without death there is no Savior—Heb. 9:16-22
  2. without death there is no Lord—Phil. 2:9-11
  3. the prophecy said he must die--Isa. 53:9
  4. the picture type is of death--John 12:24
  5. the testimony of the soldiers—Jn. 19:31-37
  1. IT IS PROOF OF THE COMPLETENESS OF HIS REDEMPTIVE WORK
  1. "Who was delivered for our offences and was raised again for our justification."
  2. Romans 4:25

  3. absolute victory over sin is proved by the resurrection—Rom. 5:8-11
  4. absolute person of Christ is proved by the resurrection—Rom. 1:3-4

III. IT IS THE UNANSWERABLE PROOF OF HIS DEITY -- Acts 2:22-36

  1. one of the greatest issues at stake today—Rev. 1:8 & 17-18 ( Ps. 16:8-11 )
  2. He alone earned the position he already deserved—Jn. 10:18; I Cor. 15:20-28
  3. He alone is worthy to be both the Son of Man and the Son of God—Rev. 5:9-10

I Tim. 2:5-6

4. He alone will be the judge of all men—Jn. 5:20-22; Acts 17:30-31; II Tim. 4:1

  1. IT IS THE PATTERN AND PLEDGE OF THE BELIEVERS RESURRECTION
  1. the is no hope life without hope for eternity-- I Cor 15:14-19
  2. the hope is that Christ is the First Fruits (pattern) – I Cor. 15:20-21
  3. the promise is that if Christ is alive so shall we be alive—Jn. 14:19
  4. the seed being planted is the picture--Jn. 12:23-24; I Cor. 15:35-50

Conclusion: The World had crucified its Savior and Creator. This was the darkest day in the World’s history had there not been a resurrection. The resurrection was God’s AMEN to Christ’s "It is finished

THE POWERS AT THE TOMB. All these powers tried to keep the Savior in the Tomb.

The Civil Power—The seal The religious Power—the Sanhedrin

The military Power—the Roman soldiers The Devil--He had the power of death

THE POWER IN THE TOMB—The Son of God. "Death could not keep its prey" He is not here, He is Risen. " Why seek ye the living among the dead"? . Matt. 28:5-6
