THE DEMON CONTROLLED SINNER

Mark 5:1-20

In the book of Isaiah the Lord calls for each of us to reason with him concerning our eternal destiny, Isa. 1:18. In the NT it is we are told to add up all we know, Heb. 8:1.

We are told in the book of Romans to look at the bottom line of life and see the reality of it all, Rom. 6:11. (Matt. 18:24 to see the meaning of reckoning) Look at this sinner and see who it was who loved him enough to meet his needs.

1. WHAT THE DEVIL DID FOR THE MAN – Rev. 12:9-10

1. made him live among the dead—Eph. 2:1-3
2. made him live in the dark—II Cor. 4:3-4 (compare to God—Lk. 1:79)
3. made him distressed—Lk. 21:26 (I Pet. 5:8)
4. made him dangerous—II Thess. 3:2-3

1. WHAT THE WORLD DID FOR THE MAN – Jer. 17:5-6 & 9

1. nothing –Jn. 15:19 (the world hates anything but itself
2. bound him with chains that would not hold—I Jn. 2:15-17
3. bound him with fetters that break—II Pet. 2:3 (love the sin and hate the sinner)

1. WHAT THE MAN COULD DID FOR HIMSELF

1. recognized God—James 2:19 (know there is a God is not enough)
2. worshipped him—the devil always knew Jesus was God in the flesh
3. had nothing to do with Jesus—v.7—Lk. 13:25-28, Matt. 7:23

1. WHAT THE LORD JESUS DID FOR THE MAN – II Tim. 1:1 & 7-12

1. Jesus gave him rest—Rom. 10:1-10, Phil. 3:9
2. Jesus gave him raiment—Matt. 6:31-33
3. Jesus gave him his right mind—Rom. 7:21-25
4. Jesus gave him a purpose for his life and a place to serve his God—Rom. 8:18-21
